RISING SUN (Theatrical Release USA 1993)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 2.7|5.0 Starsìì

Rising Sun
definitely holds attention with its excellent execution and its utilization of Wesley Snipes and Sir Sean Connery’s acting skills. Rising Sun, raunchy at times, is not a teen movie by any means. While rated ‘R’, the movie’s content, which shows how a Japanese company manipulates business partners through sexual favors, murder, and high intrigue, seems to lean toward an adult ‘X’ rating. In the end, however, good triumphs over bad and everyone lives happily ever after. Director Philip Kaufman delivers a quite graphic interpretation of the script.
