THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE (Theatrical Release USA 1986)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.6|5.0 Starsììì

The Great Mouse Detective—a heartfelt, simple adventure—bases its story on a mouse who makes toys. This film uses two well-known animation direction experts, Ron Clements and John Musker, to organize the story from Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus and Paul Galdone. The animated feature stands among the better family entertainment films and is a good choice for the child and adult.

Storyline

A toymaking mouse, Hiram Flaversham (voiced by Alan Young), is kidnapped by a peg-legged bat, Fidget (voiced by Candy Candido). An evil rat, Professor Ratigan (voiced by Vincent Price), wants the toymaker mouse to build a robotic queen so that the evil rat can take over Mousedom. But, the toymaker mouse’s daughter, Olivia Flaversham (voiced by Susanne Pollatschek), gets a mouse detective, Basil Bartholomew (voiced by Barrie Ingham), to solve the case.
