Punch-Drunk Love—a
completely unique, highly entertaining love story—shows Adam Sandler in a quite different role as bachelor Barry Egan
who needs to be married, but doesn’t have the chutzpah to get the job done. A
series of seemingly unrelated events dovetail in such a manner that he finally
realizes the love of his life. There are scenes of graphic sexual dialog, but for
the most part the film flows pretty smoothly. Barry Egan’s love interest, Lena
Leonard, played beautifully by Emily Watson, allows Barry to fully flower into a
man protecting his woman with sweetly innocent scenes that make one smile. All
in all, a completely satisfying story.
