Project X—has
Matthew Broderick pulling off a fairly good performance as a United States
airman saving experimental chimpanzees. It’s a treat to see chimpanzees
interacting with humans. I’m surprised to see Broderick smoking on screen. It’s
refreshing to see a very young Helen Hunt in this film.
Storyline
A trained chimpanzee named
Virgil (Willie) who learns the art of sign language is supposed to be shipped
to a zoo and is placed in an Air Force experimental lab instead. Airman Jimmy
Garret (Matthew Broderick) bonds with the chimp and endeavors to save as many of
the laboratory’s chimps as he can.
