STAR TREK: BEYOND (Theatrical Release USA 2016)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.4|5.0 Starsììì

Star Trek: Beyond—
wannabe sci fi flick—uses fair to good acting to portray its story, but doesn’t pull that Star Trek magic from the core of its tale. While Simon Pegg’s performance is refreshing, the special effects in this film are bland while the story itself is not original nor does it introduce anything new. It will be interesting to see what the addition of Director Quentin Tarantino will bring to the next Star Trek in the series.

Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe?

Maybe. For the purpose of finishing the series, yes; but here’s hoping the next Star Trek will be better than this one.
