True Grit—straight
forward storyline—turns into a disappointment despite the fact that John Wayne
plays the main character, Rooster Cogburn.
Look for Robert Duvall playing the character of Ned Pepper in this film.

Storyline
Mattie
Ross (Kim Darby) hires Rooster Cogburn to avenge her father, Frank Ross’ (John
Pickard) death, by taking down the man who shot him, Tom Chaney (Jeff Corey), who
worked as Frank Ross’ hired hand. Spunky Mattie Ross forces her way into
Rooster Cogburn’s hunting party and plays her own strong role in satisfying her
father’s spilled blood.

Maybe.
It’s a John Wayne western which has its own merits, but classes itself from its
beginning as a ‘B’ grade film.
