Spain is the land of wine, olive oil, wool, and gold. It's rich history has forged rich traditions deeply tied to Roman culture, but the sacking of Rome by the Visigoths changed much of Spain's cultural identity as the Visigoths drifted into Spain and began settling the Iberian peninsula. These Germanic invaders were skilled craftsmen in metal working and left behind treasures such as the Treasure of Guarrazar, much of which was stolen in the 20th century. One of the pieces from that treasure still hangs in Madrid.
