London, England, located on an island west of Europe hosts many of the world's outstanding pieces of architecture

A quick study of the United Kingdom involves several surprises. The first is that the country, like Germany, had in-country inventors who were already working diligently within the industry before the Lumiere Brothers showed their equipment.
The second surprise is how their actors and actresses dominated United States performers, often relocating to the United States to build and maintain long and fruitful careers.

Broadening and Expanding Focus, Those Royal Inventors and Experimenters
by Ben Meyers
While the French Lumiere Brothers were covering Europe with their CinemaScope, Britain took a little different path than the rest of Europe due to their in-country 1889 inventors, William Friese Greene, Robert Paul, and Birt Acres. These inventors opened up the introduction of the 35 mm camera as well as a patented process of dealing with celluloid film. Their efforts had already produced a movie, Incident at Clovelly Cottage, by 1895 when the Lumiere Brothers did not show in the United Kingdom until 1896.
By 1902 The United Kingdom had developed color film. Advancements in cinema continued strongly until the 1914 World War when the British market became overwhelmed with American films. The United Kingdom attempted to correct this during the 1920s by making laws to increase UK film production.
