HERE COMES MR. JORDAN (Released to Theaters USA 1941)

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 3.9|5.0 Stars
ììì

Here Comes Mr. Jordan—not the usual story—is complicated in storyline. It' s a movie that requires careful watching and consistent mental involvement. The title of the film does not describe the film well.

THE MALTESE FALCON (Released to Theaters USA 1941)

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.0|5.0 Starsìììì

The Maltese Falcon—unique—shows the acting capability of Humphrey Bogart to good advantage. Even though the movie is aged and uses black and white color, its classic feel still shows effect. It is well-written.  Good work for all involved in production of this mystery/detective movie.

THE RELUCTANT DRAGON (Released to Theaters USA 1941)

Note: This critique is on the biopic about how Robert Benchley pitched The Reluctant Dragon to Walt Disney Studios.

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.4|5.0 Starsìììì

The Reluctant Dragon— is a fictional biopic on how Robert Benchley pitched The Reluctant Dragon to Walt Disney, with a tour of the Disney production staff, studios, and how they make cartoons. This film is wonderful and tells a wonderful story. An easy way to explore the background of what it takes to make a cartoon, to meet some of the actors who make Donald Duck and Pluto live on screen. Watch for the special cameo appearance of Walt Disney himself. This is one of the better biopics on the market.

THE NIFTY NINETIES (Theatrical Release USA 1941)

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.2|5.0 Starsìììì

The Nifty Nineties—cute and honest—fully illustrates what entertainment needs to encourage. WOW! This is a wonderful short film. It has a perfect, light conclusion and quickly assigns itself to the great animated film for child/adult share category. Watch for nice cameos of Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. This short film features at the beginning of the Pollyanna movie DVD.

ALL-AMERICAN CO-ED (Theatrical Release USA 1941)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.7|5.0 Starsììì

All-American Co-ed is what it is. The movie storyline is not highly interesting and seems to be a musical promotion of singers and dancers rather than an entertainment piece for the general public.

Maybe. The storyline is simple, but a little unclear. The movie is dated but provides a good study of 1940s film entertainment.

MISS POLLY (Theatrical Release USA 1941)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.6|5.0 Starsììì

Miss Polly—short film—plays like slapstick comedy but the comedy runs flat. The story is simple but the acting trails shallowly along behind the story which leads to audience frustration and a deep wish to move it along. The inevitable question becomes “WHY?” is this production important to make.

Miss Polly, a romantic old soul, changes the rigidness of a small town’s moral character.
