DUNE: PART TWO (Released to Theaters USA 2024)

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 3.9|5.0 Starsììì

Dune: Part Two—improves over the 2021 Dunehas stronger acting from Timothée Chalamet.  It is best to watch the first Dune, then this Dune: Part Two as there are references that may be difficult to understand if the first movie has not been watched.

Yes. This movie is better than the first Dune movie due to stronger acting and writing. Be aware that the movie tries to work like an epic movie and is 2 hours and 46 minutes long.

THE SCORPION KING 3: BATTLE FOR REDEMPTION (Blu-Ray/DVD Release USA 2012)

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 3.7|5.0 Starsììì

The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption—better story than Scorpion King 2: Rise of  a Warrior—has Victor Webster standing in for Dwayne Johnson. Watch for Ron Perlman and Dave Bautista in the cast. The movie is a suitable watch but does come close to the original Scorpion movie. The late Kimbo Slice is an integral part of the story and adds a level of ‘cool’ to the movie.

Maybe. It is better than Part 2 of this series but has a long way to go to match the first classic film, The Scorpion King. This movie has a fairly good story and is okay to watch overall. It would serve as a good background movie to run during a party.

BEING JAMES BOND: THE DANIEL CRAIG STORY (Apple TV Release World-Wide 2021)

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.4|5.0 Starsìììì

Being James Bond: The Daniel Craig Story—documentary short film—WOW! has terrific interviews, provides excellent behind-the-scenes education, and shows how actors work to provide audiences with outstanding entertainment. This documentary increases appreciation for the industry and the people who work within that industry, various factors that can affect the quality of output, and how dedicated performers and background workers make decisions to keep on schedule despite terrific challenges. Wonderful presentation with outstanding direction shows a candid view of relationship with the press and paparazzi. This film is featured on James Bond 007’s YouTube page and the No Time To Die DVD film. This documentary is more than worth watching. Don’t miss it.

DUNE (Theatrical Release USA 2021)

 Ben Meyers’ Rating: 3.7|5.0 Starsììì

Dune—read a plotline before going—works at an exceptionally high level of complication and sophistication. This is an intellectual watch that may be completely appreciated by a limited audience with specialized knowledge. It is not as interesting, nor as good as the original movie, but the film does elaborate on Baron Vladimir Harkonnen’s character and about his position in moving the story forward. While the cast is star-studded, it surprisingly, at times, needs more realistic acting and consistency in acting skills.

? Yes? No? Maybe?

Maybe. It is interesting to see the differences between the original Dune and this story (which has been completely rewritten with bits of the original story sprinkled in at curtain junctures). There is little to recommend this movie to a general audience other than to see new actors coming into their professional maturity and to view some very good special effects, makeup artists' terrific abilities, and some fantastic architectural structures.
