North to Alaska runs on a shallow storyline and bad to okay
acting. It sticks to a limited set of stage settings and gives no relief with
any outstanding cinematic views of Alaska or the Seattle coastlands. The small
exploration into the logging community in Seattle are the most interesting
scenes in this movie. The film tries to be a comedy but doesn’t quite get there.
Both John Wayne and Stewart Granger do not compliment each other well in this
film and the addition of Fabian does not help.

Storyline
Friends strike it rich in the Alaskan wilderness. One friend travels to Seattle to get
a wife for the other friend.

No. This film is predictable and is one of John Wayne’s lesser performances.
Better John Wayne westerns include: The Shootist or The Man Who Shot
Liberty Valance.
How the West Was Won—western movie that pulls itself into a classic status—accesses
the talents of Debbie Reynolds, Gregory Peck, Carol Baker, James Stewart, George
Peppard, Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, Richard Widmark, Andy Devine, Eli Wallach, and
Walter Brennen. Watch for John Wayne as General William Tecumseh Sherman It’s an all-star movie with an all-star cast.
There is no lack here. A very good watch for the western audience and general
audiences. It has not lost its entertainment value despite its age. Worth watching
and still worth an addition to the home video library.

coast to west coast with a nice tie-in at the movie’s end to show how, in a few
short years after that, America emerged on the shoulders of those men and women
who moved through the frontier, each with their own stories to tell.
