THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (Released to Theaters USA 2013)

INTO THE WILD (Released to Theaters USA 2007)
|
Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.0|5.0 Starsìììì Into the Wild—message story with its message deeply hidden—is partially based on a true story of one young man's quest for the meaning of life. This movie is based on a book written by Jon Krakauer, story picked up by Sean Penn who decided to write a movie script and produce the film. This has some nudity and some sexual scenes. But besides that the film is a good watch. Storyline Additional Thanks Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe? Yes. There is a strong message at the end of story that has been presented exceptionally well. The answer to both of his questions is given within the movie and allows any person watching the film access to the answer without needing to go on this young man's quest. THE TREE OF LIFE (Released to Theaters USA 2011)
|
Ben Meyers’ Rating: 3.7|5.0 Starsììì The Tree of Life—odd and difficult to follow—needs a good, thorough plotline read (see Wikipedia) and some research into the original intent to produce. It's completely intellectual, relies heavily on metaphors and similes, has really good cinematography, and quickly polarizes audiences into 'loved it', 'hated it' opinions. It's difficult to find its overarching principle. It definitely invites after viewing discussion. Director Terrence Malick understands something in this artistic production that will completely "blow right over the heads' of most audiences. Maybe. It is highly intellectualized, artistic production that may 'blow right
over the heads' of most audiences. Nothing lacking in portrayal, presentation, and acting.

SUPERPOWER (Released to Video on Demand USA 2023)
|
Ben Meyers’ Rating: 3.6|5.0 Starsììì Superpower—odd film—follows no known, definable documentary protocol. An audience may have great difficulty finding the purpose of making this movie, why Sean Penn is in the Ukraine, why the leader of the Ukraine writes the movie script, and why it stages itself mostly in safe places. It does not follow normal format for persons who are war journalists and does not seem very informative. The real reason seems hidden and may be has to be for reasons a general audience may not need to know at this time. The camera work is good. But know that only the last 30-50 minutes of this film seem to justify the effort and monetary investment for making the movie. Film Poster Courtesy of IMDb Storyline Actor
Sean Penn goes to Ukraine to investigate the progression of events in the Ukrainian-Russian war. Thank you to Director Aaron Kaufman and Sean Penn for directing effort. Thank you to Executive Producers Jesse Angelo, Marina Bespolov, Sasha Cherniavsky, Subrata De, Andrew Freston, Anthony Gudas, Katie Peck, Jay Rosenzweig, Fernando Sulichin, Chad A Verdi, Kate Ward, and Co-Executive Producer Mitchell Worsoff for making the film possible. Cast includes Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Andrii Yermak, Steven Pifer, Christopher Miller, Volodymyr Jerrmolenko, Alex Frishberg, Vitali Klitschko, and Iryna Matviyishyn. Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe? Maybe. It is what it is. It seems to have no definable purpose and provides little after viewing discourse material. There is no power, no feeling of 'real' in the documentary.
