ETs Among Us 3: Secret Space Program, Alien Psychic and Crop Circle Clues releases, almost as a teaser, more information than the previous 2 films. Ben Meyers’ rating: 4.4|5.0 Starsìììì

Pick of the Litter—great documentary—thoroughly shows how seeing eye dogs are rigorously trained from puppyhood to adulthood to assume working positions. The documentary leaves nothing amiss as it also includes information on how the failed dogs are repurposed to other positions. ARMY OF THE DEAD (Netflix Release USA 2021)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 4.2|5.0 Starsìììì

Army of the Dead,
just when an audience may think ‘enough of the zombie movies’, here comes Dave Bautista who turns out another zombie movie that is worth its watch and its investment of time and money. A great zombie movie that is both interesting and begs for its sequel, presents a different concept that backs itself with a solid storyline, great acting, good cinematography, and memorable visual effects. Don’t get too tired of zombie movies quite yet until, perhaps, after you’ve watched this movie.

Yes. Be aware that the credit lines rely on over the top gore backed with nudity and sexual references, but most of the rest of the movie does not graphically rely on those factors. While it does not perform as a child friendly film, it serves the action fans very well. Great work for Director Zack Snyder for timing, pacing, and intensity.

Yes. ETS AMONG US 2: OUR ALIEN ORIGINS, ANTARCTICA, MARS AND BEYOND (Prism Pictures Release USA 2018)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 4.1|5.0 Starsìììì

ETs Among Us 2: Our Alien Origins, Antarctica, Mars and Beyond—an interesting series of concepts for a short film—talks about Antarctica, Elon Musk and Mars, and links many topics related to aliens to create a uniquely entertaining film. The movie presents itself in a short documentary format and uses good technique for its interviews while presenting archival footage to support its thesis. One question it does not address is: why are supposedly ancient writings and secret/covert knowledge being revealed at this time and, if the world of people chooses to trade their current understanding of human origin for this theory, what are the implications for future generations? Where is the real benefit becomes a leading question. It seems on the surface that the hypothesis serves more as entertainment rather than impactful information that adds value to the human future.

ETS AMONG US: UFO WITNESSES AND WHISTLEBLOWERS (Amazon Release USA 2016)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.8|5.0 Starsììì

ETs Among Us: Witnesses and Whistleblowers—another average flick about aliens—sadly fails to reveal anything new other than presenting the idea that aliens run all governments and advise as well as define what they will and will not do. Watch for a statement about the President of Russia, Mikhail Gorbachev. While many ancient writings have repeatedly spoken of otherworldly visitations, it seems we have hung on to the word ‘alien’ and confused that word as an event that is uniquely new to our age, events that have never occurred or been mentioned before in history. Ancient Jewish writings are quite explicit with multitudinous stories of unexpected meetings with other beings who act within this realm frequently and with great force to change the paths of governments as well as individuals. It seems a bit unclear why there is this sudden interest in something that has been routinely recorded in ancient writings.

Yes. If one wishes to be engrossed in another film about aliens and does not care about moving beyond a statement that there is government coverup, then this movie could satisfy. The film does not serve as well as Dr. Steven Greer’s Close Encounter of the Fifth Kind, (2020) which makes more statements about positive involvement versus government coverup.

PETERLOO (Theatrical Release USA 2018)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 4.8|5.0 Starsìììì

Peterloo uses a cinematographic technique involving color along with terrific period costuming that creates a strong feeling of realism and ‘being there’. WOW! It quickly becomes one of those movies that engrosses to the point that it is difficult to look at it with the critical, objective eye. The movie can easily be a re-watch just to catch the nuances so artistically worked into every scene. The composition and the musical score make the film nearly as good as a 5.0/5.0 movie. Director Mike Leigh does an outstanding job of pulling this story together to create a movie worth adding to the home entertainment library. High quality entertainment with authentic presentation work for the investment of time and money.

Rio 2—just as great as its predecessor movie, Rio—does not miss a beat throughout the entire movie. The animation is outstanding with exceptionally vibrant coloration, the characters are deeply drawn, the writers and director understood how to draw an audience into an emotional involvement with the story. The portrayal of story is completely relatable. The voicing, both personable and highly professional, adds tremendous value to the film. Musical score…lovely. This animated movie is a wonderful child/adult share as it manages that difficult leap to appeal to all age levels well. The movie deserves its watch. It’s a wonderful film overall.

THE ICE ROAD (Netflix Release USA 2021)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 4.7|5.0 Starsìììì

The Ice Road, an entertainment gem that may be easily overlooked due to the televised reality show Ice Road Truckers, works at a high-level entertainment value. This film from its beginning to its end delivers intense action and intrigue that far surpasses most movies within this category. While the televised series informed audiences of the job and its dangers, the movie expands on the job and adds a storyline that is difficult to compete with. The special effects are outstanding in both realism and pacing/timing throughout the movie. Great story told with heart.

SPARK: A SPACE TAIL (Toronto International Animation Arts Festival Toronto Canada 2016)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.4|5.0 Starsììì

Spark: A Space Tail—animation—unfortunately relies on an old, trite storyline…evil government suppression that satisfies whims of an evil ruler in a position of power. The only new thing offered is: the rebel is a monkey rather than a parrot, gorilla, lion, or any other animal to include humans that can fill the bill of brave rebel against evil government. The movie, sadly, becomes a cookie cutter from its beginning to its conclusion. Little attempt has been made to establish connectivity between the audience and the characters in the movie.

No. There are much better movies about government reform and citizen revolt. A heart-touching film on this subject, not an animation and really an unfair comparison due to its classic status, is: Les Miserables (with Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe)—a multi-layered movie that addresses not only the complexities of government, law, love, rebellion, poverty, punishment, and freedom well, but allows deep reflection on the different ways that individuals can alleviate real suffering of others even when not acting within an activist/rebel position.

RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE (Theatrical Release USA 2010)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 4.3|5.0 Starsìììì

Resident Evil: Afterlife works with a high-level special effects department that managed to put together some of the best effects of its decade. Some of the slow motion action scenes remind one of the slow motion scenes in the movies Matrix and Equilibrium, but they keep the pace of the film at such a high level of intensity that the repeat of the slow motion process works. This Resident Evil movie is not as good as the last Resident Evil movie but watch for a Middle Ages fight scene with an executioner and a rain scene that can be described as WOW! This movie begs for a sequel and got it with the next in the series: Resident Evil: Retribution.
