THE IRON CLAW (Released to Theaters USA 2023)

Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.3|5.0 Starsìììì

The Iron Claw—tremendous performance by Zac Efron—relies on a great cast to tell a great sports story. Even though the movie shows the tougher side of professional wrestling, it's a unique story that needs to be told. There is some sexual content that is easy to skip. This movie does not follow the Von Erich story exactly (for instance showing five sons instead of six) but it still shows the dominance of the father and the willingness of the sons to follow in his footsteps.

THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (Theatrical Release USA 2017)

 Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.3|5.0 Starsìììì

The Greatest Showman—beautifully presented, backed with outstanding music and dancing—is wonderful. The singing is some of the best a movie could have and brings both joy and excitement. This piece reminds one of why we go to the movies and deserves its addition to the home video library collection. It tells the P. T. Barnum story with finesse, dignity, and integrity. Great to see Hugh Jackman pull this off so well and the terrific choice of Zac Efron as a business partner. WOW!!! What a treat! No ‘shab’ here. It’s a film that will soar in popularity through the years.

17 AGAIN (Theatrical Release USA 2009)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 4.3|5.0 Starsìììì

17 Again highlights the personable Zac Efron’s acting skill. It’s one of his best films since High School Musical and emphasizes him as a high-profile actor. It’s good to see Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, and Jim Gaffigan in the movie.  The basic storyline of this film is not new and not creative, but the message has been so skillfully woven into the dialogue and timing of the scenes that the movie serves at a much higher level than others that have dealt with this subject matter. The resolution is better and seems to reflect a reality nearer to truth than similarly made films. It’s a refreshing watch and a good holiday watch.

Yes. This movie is a surprisingly well-written Zac Efron film.  Although not a new or fresh film idea it has been presented in such a way that leaves a powerful message about first love, keeping marriages together, and keeping priorities straight in life. Great watch for late teens and adults. Provides good after-viewing discussion material.
