BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Theatrical Release USA 2017)

Beauty and the Beast
is a live action remake of the classically animated Beauty and the Beast story. It tops the charts for profitability generating over a billion dollars at box office, but fails in originality. The music is terrific. Emma Watson sings and one immediately thinks she should do more musicals. She shows a certain sophistication reminiscent of some of Julie Andrews’ earlier musical films; however, she lacks the certain sweet innocence that is necessary to pull this film into the best of the best category.

Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe?

Maybe. The music is quite good and it’s interesting to see a live action version of this favorite childhood story.
