THE SMURFS 2 (Theatrical Release USA 2013)

The Smurfs 2
—the sequel film to The Smurfs—takes a while to establish itself. Ten minutes into the film, which is a mixture of live acting and animation, it drops to a finger-tips-drumming-waiting-for-it-to-get-better mode and then, when all hope seems lost, the movie takes a sharp upswing as the Smurfs, the Winslow family, and Patrick Winslow’s stepfather, Victor Doyle, begin a search for the missing Smurfette who has been captured by Vexy, Garamel’s newest creation. The film quickly becomes a sweet, clean, fun approach to the on-going battle between good and evil and rises to a solid entertainment piece for the whole family. The Smurfs 2—a GREAT movie for kids—contains enough cuteness and adventure to make it a good choice for the child/adult share.
