THE VIKINGS (Theatrical Release USA 1958)

 Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.2|5.0 Starsììì

The Vikings—no plot, no satisfaction, no point—runs to its ending credits without purpose. Even with Kirk Douglas, Ernest Borgnine, and Tony Curtis, the movie falls flat.

 Additional Thanks

Thank you to Director Richard Fleischer for directing effort. Thank you to Executive Producer Kirk Douglas for making the film possible. Additional characters/cast include: Einar (Kirk Douglas), Eric (Tony Curtis), Ragner (Ernest Borgnine), Morgana (Janet Leigh), Egbert (James Donald), Father Godwin (Alexander Knox), Enid (Maxine Audley), Aella (Frank Thring), Kitala (Eileen Way), and Sandpiper (Edric Connor).

Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe?

Maybe. It’s welcome to see a movie themed around Vikings, but this movie seems to think it is enough to show Kirk Douglas on screen and nothing else is needed…not even a storyline. Unfortunately, a charismatic actor is not the only thing that makes an entertaining movie.
